Dear all,
I know you have one way or another being involved in the BIOLOID robod project (liz made it look like a teddy bear!).

I d like you to take a look at the following two sources I list here, consider well the pro’s and con’s and give me some advice with the shape of the final course of my MSc research.
1)))))))))————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

now this is the first. those guys in USA did a lot we still have to do, BUT the robot still walks terriblyyyyyyy.. it is still not natural, just not nice…. keeps on falling…

2))))))))—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
now take a look at this
http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/login.jsp?url=/iel5/10375/32977/01545126.pdf?arnumber=1545126
and enter the university password to get the full pdf.

you ll see that these guys have done a lot on mimicking the human motion by adding a new foot and a grid of sensors.

please consider the prestige of the institution that carried out that research. not just any newly added to the robot football technical department in a developing country, but the
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in JAPAN.

of course I believe that we will not need all these sensors to get us going, four on each foot should be enough for the basics.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

now do you really think that we should develop the shoeless, sensorless robot any longer instead of going directly to develop the new stuff?

even if we do develop it a bit further, we will still have to do a lot of changes to our model to adjust the design to the new foot/force sensors additions.

this is kind of important for me at this stage.

Usually, that would be an issue between me and Dr Bugmann.

But since you all have your input on this robot, and it will stay in uni for quite a long time to represent it in all sorts of competitions, I d like to get your feedback on the issue.

Please keep in mind that I really want to do well on this project and this is why I am so nervous/anxious/impatient to get on with something really cool and proved to be effective.

Part of my past modules in this uni, was a labview module with Dr White so I have a grasp of it, a robotics and control module regarding electric motors again with Dr white, and a matlab practice module with Dr Sharma, americans used mahematica but matlab can do the job just as well (hopefully).

If americans sorted out the vision and tracking as the video claims in just 2 hours (so they claim anyway but I am a bit sceptical on that.. )  then why we dont make this robot dance with Russian balley dancers in the next Swan Lake show in Plymouth in a few months?

Yours sincerely and anxiously waitting and stressed as the time flies by,
